New Web 2.0 tool

Google My Map  is a terrific tool to help with my social studies and writing curriculum.  I look forward  to marking different locations on the map of Texas and adding the student's research and comments and maybe even pictures.

There are so many different tools to help teachers in the classroom.  I want to try so many of them.  It keeps the students and the teachers engaged in the learning process.

Digital Storytelling

How much fun to make a mini movie for my students!  During this time of year we have several new students who join the class.  This is a fun way to remind them how to be welcoming to a new student.

I can also use digital storytelling  - with slideshows, etc. to help teach the children about writing different types of stories.  This brings a whole new level to the classroom.  My students would (and will) respond to this.

Wiki

When I first saw the applications for Wiki, I thought it was very similar to google docs.  After setting up a Wiki page I see the benefits.  Wiki documents would be able to help me have the children write a collaborative story.  Wiki seems easier for the students to access, and they have instant publishing which is positive reinforcement.

As a Third grade reading and writing teacher, anything I can do to encourage the students to write (and read) is terrific.  I think my students would benefit from being able to use wiki pages on many different assignments.

RSS feeds ROCK!

I had seen rss feeds, forwarded to me, but was unsure how to subscribe.

I really like the idea of having my favorite websites at my fingertips.  As I continue checking the sites and adding shared items with my fellow teachers, I know it will only get better.

This is a practical and easy way to stay on top of the latest ideas.

My First Form in google docs!

I added a form to my website - I am so excited to be able to use the forms parts of google docs to engage my students in a new and different way.

Social Bookmarking

This was a lot fun and very useful. I will definitely be using this as much as I can. It will make it so much easier when I am trying to locate a site quickly to add to my lessons on my interactive whiteboard in my classroom too!  http://www.delicious.com/talesof3rdgradeteacher
